Leadership
In primary school I was deputy head boy. I also captained both the rugby and athletics teams.
In high school I was a prefect, captained the rugby and athletics teams and was a corporal with my own platoon.
I also captained the WP junior (1996) as well as the WP senior (1998-2007) athletics teams.
 
Sport
I made the WP under-13 craven week rugby team. During primary school I played for the A-team in all the age groups. During high school I played for the A-team in all the age groups and for the first team during standard 9 and matric, I also played first team sevens from standard 8 to matric.
I'm also involved with teaching athletics and rugby to youngsters, and share some of my experience to older athletes.
 
Education
I had the following subjects during my matric year which I passed with exemption, Afrikaans 1st language, English 2nd language, Maths, Accounting, Biology and Woodwork.
 
Awards
I was named WP junior athlete of the year in 1995 and 1996, WP senior athlete of the year (1998 – 2004).
I also received the City of Bellville’s Sportsman’s of the year award, junior (1996) and senior (1998 – 2002).
I was also named athlete of the meeting at various occasions in South Africa and abroad.

In 1996 I won both the 100m and 200m races at the Junior- and Senior Championships, this was only the second time that anybody has achieved this feat in South Africa, the first being Paul Nash.
During 2002 and 2003 I ran 32.35 and 32.27 respectively, which were both SA records as the fastest times in the world during those years. I also won a bronze medal in the 400m during the African Championships in Tunisia 2001 and a relay bronze medal at the African Championships in Congo 2004. My best hand time over 100m is 10.1.
 
I've been to the following countries taking part in Athletic meetings:
Spain,Finland,Hugary,France,Canada,Malasie,Australie,Russia,Congo,Tunisie, Morocco,England,Switzerland,Norway,Portugal,Greece,Namibie,Sweden,Slovenia, Mauritius, Poland.
